Hildesheimer Musiktage: Tango in the air
July 16, 2010This year we have the 10th Hildesheimer Marktplatz Musiktage (music days in the market place of Hildesheim). As every year they take place from June to August. This year it was the first time for me going there. The first event I wanted to go to I missed because they wanted to evacuate the city center to defuse a bomb from WW II (but they found only scrap metal
). They wanted to move it to the fair ground (Volksfestplatz) but when I went there I couldn’t find anybody.
After canceling the action disarming the bomb they probably had the concert of the Brazilian music in the market place…
Today I went there to see the band Faux Pas playing and singing Tango Argentino. I took a seat at a table in front of the Knochenhaueramtshaus (Butchers’ Guild Hall) and had some drinks. They started at 7pm and ended at 10pm. It was a smooth evening but of course not the same as in San Telmo!
I guess the real Tango dancers were not present. Unfortunately the sound was too low. It made it difficult to understand the lyrics. And there was not enough passion and feeling spreading to the audience. I mean, it is quite difficult when the singer has to read the lyrics. You have to completely understand the words and feel (with) them, dive into them, identify yourself with them, “sing” them! At least he had some Argentenean pronunciation… It is always nice to listen to the meaningful words of the Tango.
